Diana Fosha • Saturday All Day
Too often, therapy gets bogged down in talk in ways that diminish possibilities for connection and change. In this workshop we’ll explore Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), an approach that begins by focusing on “glimmers of growth” and closely tracks subtle shifts in a client’s moment-to-moment experience, with the goal of following the edge of emergent transformational experience. Videotapes of AEDP sessions will illustrate how to help clients recognize and express the implicit message of their internal states and invite them to witness and accept their emotional processes. You’ll see how to “make the implicit explicit and the explicit experiential” in subtle ways that turbo-charge the change process with energy and give rise to a transformational spiral. We’ll explore how the AEDP approach to dyadic mindfulness and meta-processing can make clients more receptive to relational connection and deepen and vitalize the therapeutic bond. (This session will continue with Workshop 508.)
