Author

FRANK G. ANDERSON, M.D.

Frank Guastella Anderson, MD, completed his residency and was a clinical instructor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is both a psychiatrist and psychotherapist. He specializes in the treatment of trauma and dissociation and is passionate about teaching brain-based psychotherapy and integrating current neuroscience knowledge with the IFS model of therapy.

Dr. Anderson is the vice chair and director of the Foundation for Self Leadership. He is a trainer at the Center for Self Leadership with Richard Schwartz, PhD, and maintains a long affiliation with, and trains for, Bessel van der Kolk’s Trauma Center at Justice Resource Center in Boston, MA.

Dr. Anderson has lectured extensively on the Neurobiology of PTSD and Dissociation and wrote the chapter "'Who’s Taking What' Connecting Neuroscience, Psychopharmacology and Internal Family Systems for Trauma" in Internal Family Systems Therapy: New Dimensions. (Routledge, 2013). He co-authored a chapter on “What IFS Brings to Trauma Treatment" in Innovations and Elaborations in Internal Family Systems Therapy (Routledge, 2016) and co-authored Internal Family Systems Skills Training Manual (PESI, 2017).

Dr. Anderson maintains a private practice in Concord, MA, and serves as an Advisor to the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP).

HARRIET LERNER, PH.D.

Harriet Lerner is one of our nation's most respected voices on the psychology of women and marriage and family relationships. For three decades, she was a staff psychologist and psychotherapist at The Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, and a faculty member and supervisor in the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry. Currently in private practice in Lawrence, Kansas, she is the author of numerous scholarly articles and 11 books, including the New York Times best-seller, The Dance of Anger, Women in Therapy, The Dance of Connection, and The Dance of Fear. Lerner has been a guest on Oprah, CNN, NPR and numerous other media. She is also, with her sister, an award-winning children's book author, and she hosts a blog for Psychology Today and The Huffington Post. Lerner's new book is Marriage Rules: A Manual for the Married and The Coupled Up.

SUSAN B YOUNG, MA, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA

Susan B. Young, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA., is a faculty member for the USC/WPS Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) certification process. She was one of the original researchers for the SIPT under the supervision of Dr. A. Jean Ayres. She has many years of clinical practice including owning Children’s Therapy Group in Kansas City, a multidisciplinary private practice primarily serving children with sensory integration deficits. Dr. Young’s career includes director of OT and PT at Children’s Mercy Hospital, program director of the Occupational Therapy Program at Rockhurst University, and associate professor of OT at Belmont University. She is an adjunct professor of OT at Belmont University. Graduate (MSOT and OTD) students have gained pediatric competence from Dr. Young’s expertise in the classroom and the lab experiences. She teaches workshops internationally as well as nationally. She is author of ”Movement Is Fun”, a program of movement activities for preschool children based on sensory concepts.

Sherry Turkle, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and Abby Rockefeller Mauzé Professor of the Social Studies of Science and Technology at MIT. Most recently, she published the bestselling Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age. She’s also the author of Psychoanalytic Politics: Jacques Lacan and Freud’s French Revolution.
