Ann Randolph, on Using Improv Techniques to Access Deep Emotion

It’s a simple exercise—imbue one part of the body with a feeling and explore it, just like an actor would. Stomp around the room with angry hips. Look at the world through the challenging eyes of a jaguar.

Improv actor, Ann Randolph, explains that this technique bypasses the mind and unfolds naturally into a whole body experience of the emotion in its fullness.

What a great idea. Love this and can't wait to try it with clients. I can see this working very well with clients who have a hard time getting out of their cognitive processing.

There is an enormous difference between actor training and mental health training. I am terribly uncomfortable that you are offering an improv actor's training exercises in the context of mental health therapy. I have extensive experience in both and find this extraordinarily irresponsible.
