612 Repairing Family Bonds

George Faller • Sunday All Day
location: CABINET ROOM

George FallerThe goal of Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) is to move beyond a focus on the content of families’ struggles to help them put aside patterns of protection and blame so that members can vulnerably experience emotional repair with each other. In this workshop, we’ll demonstrate the various stages of EFFT, including:

  • Creating alliances focused on safety, matching the affect of family members, and helping them feel heard
  • Helping members access and express primary emotion and move toward connection
  • Creating transformative change events that engage children, access unexpressed needs, and encourage parental responsiveness

George Faller, LMFT, is the founder of the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy. As an EFT Trainer and AAMFT Supervisor, he teaches several classes at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, and is the director of training at the Center for Hope and Renewal in Greenwich, Connecticut.
