General Info

Attendees with Disabilities

If you have a disability and need support services, please check the box on the Registration Form on page 80. We’ll contact you to determine your needs, so that we can make advance arrangements. The Omni Shoreham can also make its guest rooms barrier-free. You should notify the hotel in advance if that’s necessary.

CDs and DVDs

Video recordings of all the Keynotes and audio recordings of nearly all of the workshops are available for purchase at special onsite Symposium pricing. Visit the Playback Now booth outside the Palladian Ballroom to take advantage of attendee discounts. Orders can also be placed online at www.PlaybackNetworker.com; by phone: 1-800-241-7785; or through the mail: Playback Now, 3139 Campus Drive, Suite 700, Norcross GA 30071

Changing Workshops

For attendees who want to change workshops during the Symposium, there’ll be four to six open workshops, held in large ballrooms, during each time block. To avoid disruptions and overcrowded rooms, all other workshops will be closed to anyone who hasn’t been assigned to them in advance. The list of open workshops will be printed in the Symposium’s Onsite Guide, which you’ll receive at the hotel.

Child Care

If you need child care during the Symposium, call the Omni Shoreham concierge at (202) 234-0700 at least two to three weeks before your arrival. The concierge will give you information about a licensed child care agency.

Exhibit Hall

The Symposium Exhibit Hall will feature dozens of publications, therapy products, and other vital resources and services for practitioners, as well as hard-to-find back issues of the Networker magazine. Visit the Exhibit Hall for your FREE tote bag and participate in drawings for FREE prizes. Hours: Opening Reception, Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 7:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Hotel Accommodations

The Omni Shoreham Hotel, located at 2500 Calvert Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20008, is offering a special Symposium rate: $223 plus tax per night for single- or double-occupancy rooms, $243 for triples, $263 for quads. Although this rate is guaranteed for those registering by February 26, you’re urged to make hotel reservations as early as possible. In the past, the hotel has filled up well before this deadline.

You can make hotel reservations by going to the Omni Shoreham reservation website directly. You can also telephone the Omni Shoreham at (888) 444-6664 and request “the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium discount rate.” Be sure to mention that you’re with the Networker Symposium at the time you make your reservation. The discounted rates cannot be applied at check-in or check-out for those who forgot to mention the affiliation when reserving the room.

When rooms are no longer available at the Omni Shoreham, please e-mail us at symposium@promesaweb.com for the names of nearby hotels offering a discount to Symposium attendees.

Lunches

It’s expected that the volume of Symposium attendees will put a strain on nearby eating facilities and make it difficult to have a quick meal. There’ll be seated luncheons with speakers on Friday and Saturday. Speaker luncheon reservations must be made in advance on the Registration Form on page 80. You may not order these lunches on-site during the Symposium. Box lunches on Thursday and Sunday can be purchased in the hotel’s lobby or snack shop.

Room and/or Ride Sharing

If you wish to share a hotel room and don’t already have a roommate, check the space provided on the Symposium Registration Form on page 80. Beginning the first of February, each participant in the room-sharing service will receive a list of others interested in sharing a room. It’s your responsibility to contact others on the list to arrange to share. The Networker isn’t responsible for matches that fall through. If you’re driving to the Symposium, either locally or from a distance, and are willing to provide a ride to other attendees, or if you need a ride, check the Ride Sharing box on the Symposium Registration Form on page 80. This list also will be made available beginning in February. Contact symposium@promesaweb.com to receive a Room Sharing or a Ride Sharing List.

Tax Deduction

Registration fees, transportation, lodging, and meals are tax deductible as educational expenses when attending continuing education seminars. Deductibility varies depending on whether you’re employed by others or self-employed. It’s recommended that you consult your tax advisor with any questions.

What to Wear for the Symposium

There are usually hints of spring in Washington during the Symposium, with temperatures ranging from the upper 60s during the day to the 40s at night. We can guarantee that the temperature in the hotel conference rooms will fluctuate dramatically from hot to cold. We strongly suggest that you dress in layers, so that you can adjust your apparel to the temperature of the particular conference room you’re in. If you plan to participate in a Creativity Day workshop on Thursday or an Evolving Therapist workshop on Sunday, dress in loose, comfortable clothing.

Work-Exchange Volunteers

Please don’t call or e-mail the Networker office or our Registration Office about work-exchange volunteer positions. If you’re interested in being a volunteer at the 2013 Symposium, click here now.
