Attendees with Disabilities

If you have a disability and need support services, please check the box on the Registration Form on page 80. We’ll contact you to determine your needs, so that we can make advance arrangements. The Omni Shoreham can also make its guest rooms barrier- free. You should notify the hotel in advance if that’s necessary.

CDs and DVDs

CDs of most workshops will be available for sale at the Symposium. Taping and mail orders will be handled by Playback Now, 3139 Campus Drive, Suite 700, Norcross, GA 30071, (800) 241-7785, www.playbacknow.com or www.iplaybacknetworker.com. Personal tape recorders aren’t permitted in any sessions.

Changing Workshops

For attendees who want to change workshops during the Symposium, there’ll be four to six open workshops, held in large ballrooms, during each time block. To avoid disruptions and overcrowded rooms, all other workshops will be closed to anyone who wasn’t assigned to them in advance. The list of open workshops will be printed in the Symposium Onsite Guide, which you’ll receive at the hotel.

Child Care

If you need child care during the Symposium, call the Omni Shoreham concierge at (202) 234-0700 at least two to three weeks before your arrival. The concierge will give you information about a licensed child care agency.

Exhibit Hall

The Symposium Exhibit Hall will feature dozens of publications, therapy products, and other vital services for practitioners, as well as hard-to-find back issues of the Networker magazine. Hours: Opening Reception, Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, 7:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Hotel Accommodations

The Omni Shoreham Hotel, located at 2500 Calvert Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20008, is offering a special Symposium rate, which is exactly the same as last year: $214 plus tax per night for single- or double-occupancy rooms, $234 for triples, $254 for quads. Although this rate is guaranteed for those registering by February 23, you’re urged to make hotel reservations as early as possible. In the past, the hotel has filled up well before this deadline. To receive the special rate, access the Omni Shoreham website at www.psychotherapynetworker.org by clicking on Hotel Reservation, or call the Omni Shoreham directly at (888) 444-6664 and indicate your affiliation with the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium. Rates can’t be changed at check-in or check-out for attendees who failed to say that they’re attending the Symposium at the time they made their reservation. When rooms are please e-mail us at symposium@cmehelp.org for the names of nearby hotels offering a discount to Symposium attendees, or check our website: www.psychotherapynetworker.org.

Lunches

It’s expected that the volume of Symposium attendees will put a strain on nearby eating facilities and make it difficult to have a quick meal. There’ll be seated luncheons with speakers on Friday and Saturday, and box lunches will be available in the lobby each day of the conference. Speaker luncheon reservations must be made in advance on the Registration Form on page 80. You may not order these lunches onsite during the Symposium.

Room and/or Ride Sharing

If you wish to share a hotel room and don’t already have a roommate, check the space provided on the Symposium Registration Form on page 80. Each participant in the room-sharing service will receive a list in early February of others interested in sharing a room. It’s your responsibility to contact others on the list to arrange to share a room. The Networker isn’t responsible for matches that fall through. If you’re driving to the Symposium, either locally or from a distance, and are willing to provide a ride to other attendees, or if you need a ride, check the Ride Sharing box on the Symposium Registration Form on page 80. This list will also be made available in February.

Tax Deduction

Registration fees, transportation, lodging, and meals are tax deductible as educational expenses when attending continuing education seminars. Deductibility varies depending on whether you’re employed by others or self-employed. It’s recommended that you consult your tax advisor with any questions.

What To Wear For the Symposium

There are usually hints of spring in Washington during the Symposium, with temperatures ranging from the upper 60s during the day to the 40s at night. We can guarantee that the temperature in the hotel conference rooms will fluctuate dramatically from hot to cold. We strongly suggest that you dress in layers, so that you can adjust your apparel to the temperature of the particular conference room you’re in. If you plan to participate in a Creativity Day workshop on Thursday or an Evolving Therapist workshop on Sunday, dress in loose, comfortable clothing.

Work Exchange Volunteers

Please don’t call or e-mail the Networker office or our Registration Office about workexchange volunteer positions. If you’re interested in being a volunteer at the 2010 Symposium, just click on For Volunteers for more information and to register online. If you have any questions, please e-mail us at: info@psychnetworker.org.

Additional Information

If you have any further questions regarding the Symposium, please contact the Symposium Registration Office by e-mailing us at symposium@cmehelp.com or by calling (888) 330-3872. Answers to many of your questions will be posted on our website: www.psychotherapynetworker.org.
