The internal dynamics of any particular individual brain and the social dynamics of the entire human race are increasingly intertwined. Perhaps for the first time in history, we can begin to get some sense of the vast, interconnected web that joins every human brain on earth to every other. This is a cause for awe and skepticism—awe at the power and potential of our collective cerebral tapestry, skepticism about what we imagine we know. After all, we're still only animals.
