424 The SomaSoul Process: Engaging the Body’s “Voice” in Therapy
Saturday Morning Only
Too often, we listen to the client’s verbal narrative, but neglect to attend to the “story” that the client’s body has to tell. . . .
In fact, the body, particularly the viscera, holds onto our emotional experience, which it expresses via symptoms of anxiety, depression, and addictions, as well as physical imbalances and disease processes. In this workshop, we’ll explore ways of identifying and expressing the body’s voice--“body scanning” to hone in on key body areas in need of processing, with particular emphasis on using drawing, movement, and writing down sensations that emerge during the body scan in the process. You’ll learn to befriend and listen to your emotional body within the physical body, enhancing your capacity to bring to your work a whole, fully embodied, balanced presence, which can reassure and encourage clients.
