--which promotes significant changes over the long haul, but may not provide practical skills that clients can immediately use when flooded with anxiety or self-doubt. In this workshop, we’ll explore physiological techniques for rapid relaxation, attention control, and energy management that clients can practice by the end of their first session. You’ll learn how to help them center themselves with a 12-second breathing practice, use a “hello-goodbye” technique to focus on present tasks, and practice energy-sustaining self-care--adequate sleep, good nutrition, regular exercise--that leaves them less vulnerable to stress. For clinicians who’d like to expand into performance consulting, we’ll review five basic ethical competencies, including skills for motivating clients to excel and coaching on how to make contextually intelligent decisions.
